Meet Wind Vineyards at Laural Grove owners, Ashley and Tyler Wind.
The vision for Wind Vineyards started in 2007 after visiting multiple Virginia wineries and falling in love with the entire wine making process and growing industry. Operating a winery was never in the cards for the Wind Family; however, after developing a likeness to the Virginia Wine Industry, Tyler and Ashley Wind decided to take a leap of faith and make every country boys dream come true: own and operate a functional farm.Â
While this farm may not raise cattle or traditional consumer crops – the vision of Wind Vineyards at Laurel Grove is to make it the Mid-Atlantic’s premiere agritourism destination with the main highlight being the family-owned and operated vineyard and winery.
The journey started in 2018, just days after their first son was born when Tyler pulled out an old disc from the woods that was used by his father to turn up land on his childhood property. The very next day, he began planting 25,000 vines that would mark the beginning of the Wind Vineyards brand and dream.
The dream doesn’t end there. Bringing community, excitement, and something to do in the area is the big dream, and putting Tappahannock, VA on the map is the goal.
Turning 700 acres of farmland into a highly rated five-star destination doesn’t happen overnight. In fact, it takes years. The Vineyard building opened its doors to the public in October 2021, followed by the Winery building in 2022. The rest, they say, is history – and we are glad that you can be a part of it.
